Balance issues go here as well?


Banished one's cold nova killed my 420 hp amazon with cold potion active in one blow.  Impossible to avoid as a melee?  Was just a big hit.  Did it again and lost half  hp instead of all.




Also, whenver I save and exit I get access violation error c0000005

You got whacked by it twice.  Probably running away.

The starting scroll says Akara sells scrolls - but it is the other NPC now, Martha?


The scrolls she sells range from 51 gold to over 100k gold.  Should they not all be ~1 gold?


I got the starting Amazon spear off a weapon rack in the Den of Evil

Athena's blessing is a passive? I don't get the life per hit bonus while using a spear.

Ahh. I see I need the zon charm. Whoops. Should've saved that skill point.  I don't like feeling that my char is gimped before I leave town.

I have found the starting zon spear 3 times.

Why are the mages in graveyard stunning me?

The bears in underground passage a bit too strong?  Frenzy and stun is basically a save and exit :(

Claymore swords have low sell price.

Blood Lust skill book level 2 costs 2 gold (which I liked but other level 2 skills are more like ~12k gold).


Hatred damage is in the wrong location on the character screen.  Like 6" down from where it should display.

Yes.  Critical stuff is basically free.  Neat stuff is not.

I have found the starting zon spear 3 times.

This should end now.

Why are the mages in graveyard stunning me?

Its a counter I gave them.  It should no longer stun you.

The bears in underground passage a bit too strong?  Frenzy and stun is basically a save and exit :(

I nerfed the skill and the chance for it to activate.  I didn't remove it though.  (25% chance cut to 10% // Slvl 2 cut to slvl 1)

Claymore swords have low sell price.

As a sorc (lvl 6) i encountered corpsefire and nomatter how many fireballs I lob, he takes little(visually hard to see ) or maybe no damage at all.
Is he regenerating faster than I can see it do damage or am I missing something?

he is fire enchanted, sure, but not immune, right?

 <edit>  I switched to charged bolt and he went down...
I'm finding the early difficulty frustrating, not so much fun. :(
I still need to learn how to play this properly too, though.. haha

I'm confused here Jamie.  Everything looks right on the CS screen here.  It looks like every other skill description on the CS.

I still need to learn how to play this properly too, though.. haha

It is difficult at the start.  I am changing your creation level from 5 to 10.  This will help because you gain more encumbrance and you can use better rares immediately.

I thought about it but in the end, no.  There are at least three ways to get more stats if you need them.

Nothing.  In fact, I would expect you do that.  You can purchase skill tomes from the four traveling merchants for the first 1/3 of the skill range.  After that, it gets expensive.  While theoretically possible now, I don't see a lot of people doing it.

In the end, if I have to, I can split the skill aptitude system into 3: caster (dex/eng), melee (str/vita), and mixed (all four stats) but for now, I'm letting it go as is.

I noticed that too.  I wonder if different dreamland.dlls are moving the offsets because it did work well when I tested with the non-tcp version.

Perhaps not a bug. The Druid ice hydra is with the other summon spells. Although technically correct, it may confuse new players who see every other Druid caster spell at same merchant.

Yea, this is a known issue, I use windowed DirectDraw and it is fine.
as Trevor says in his 3.0.2 release thread:

Cant use glide.  Crashes the wp plugin.  Play windowed mode.

Apocalypse damage on the char screen is shifted down halfway through the screen rather than at the correct spot.

Something is wrong with the treasure classes of monsters in early a2 desert maps.  They are dropping arrows and potions like mad but very rarely any items.  Items dropped well from treasure chests in maggot lair and valley of the snakes.

What version of Dreamland are you using?  The smaller of the two dlls (840ish kb) or the larger (940ish kb)

My weapon (rare druid club) gives +2 naid's torrent (or whatever the ice summon is).  However, it doesn't actually state this on the item.  The only weird thing is a +2 light radius.  Any chance that is text error and it is actually +2 to the skill?

3/40 for AM3.0.2.

I significantly buffed the rates in 3.0.3.  I had to run Ardual over a dozen times with no luck.  Said screw this and buffed all the rates.

I'm surprised about that, nothing was edited there in a very long time.  The only issue might be the lightning resist shrine.  I will look into it though.  Maybe the lightning resist per clvl is doing something weird.

That happens occasionally to me -- no matter the mod. Reinstall Diablo 2 seems to help.

Afaik something like that can happen from time to time if you're using Windows 7 (or maybe even higher).
Happened for me a few times with Reign of Shadow and Eastern Sun.
Restarting the computer should do the job. If not, just restart again.

Also i got this error in act 4 when the summoned Diablo died near the pandemonium fortress. I repeated everything and error was not there.

The NPC plugin that is a part of dreamland is causing all kinds of errors like this.  Just ignore them for now.

BTW, how did you like my Act 4?

I can't resurrect mercenaries if i tell with merchants and click somewhere around - line with "resurrect ..." simple disappear. After restarting game everything work till first missclicking. In 2.0.2 Qual Kek had double line for hire and no resurrect.

Right now anything dealing with NPCs has problems.  PK knows about it; the coder is just really busy.  So this is the status quo until he is finished with his plugin.

Depends.  What is your IML?  Smashing socketables (ie destroying them is IML 2+)

If you want to preserve the socketables, (ie remove them from the item so you can use them in something else), you need IML 4+

Because they are coded that way.  The four town skill merchants will not give you higher tomes in NM or Hell. 
A) I cant give you 1 set of tomes for act 1 norm and then another set for NM/hell without adding a ilvl requirement on them.
B) I honestly dont know even if the vendor plugin would allow such a set of code.
C) It is expected that you will leave normal fully developed skill wise.  IE you have maxed out all your skills.  If you haven't then you can do so in NM without having to return to norm.

Also, I crash every try Im trying to trade with Shaanti.

D2Vendors issue.  Anything that crashes vendor wise, I can't fix.  This was why I was reluctant in giving out the patch - a faulty plugin but a necessary one.

No way to revive merc in a4, which is not good. I mean, cain is in last wp, so yea...

I will try to give Xanna the ability to res mercs.  I don't think I can with the current NPC plugin.   But I will try.

Why is destroying sockets IML 2+? seems like a limitation for the sake of being annoying rather than balancing, destroying sockets should be IML 1 imo.

Level one is the ability to craft.
Level two is the ability to destroy.
Level three is the ability to socket. 
Basically a slow progression in making your own gear.

Skill book of Life Tap sold in act 1 is level 2 so you can't learn it without losing skill point or completing Tristram.

Melquart in the Forgotten Temple (upper Kurast) in Act 3 doesn't drop anything.  Seems like he should, though I don't know what.

You are correct.  Sigh.  I know what I did wrong.  Issue fixed.  There will be a small buff to the necro because of the fix.

In Act 4 I get this error:

Maybe picking up or storing items into the cube causes this.

I will try to not pick up any items and report if that prevents the error.

There are a ton of strange errors that are popping up from the dreamland plugin.  That error message in particular though, will pop up if your save file size is greater than 8191 bytes.  If the save file size is smaller than that, I would just restart the computer until you get the next strange error.  I wish I could fix it but that one rests with Kingpin.

Agreed, I downloaded his example barb, and anytime I tried to pick up gold on killing something, it refused to pick it up, and it would change the gold value on the ground to some outrageous amount.
I experienced this once on one of my characters a week or so ago too.

Assassasin lvl 26 (ecm 40, apt 258) trying to learn lvl 1 skills from tomes and cannot:
adrenaline skill (tome says burst of speed - probably just wrong name) says i need clutch charm which i have clean, but skill cannot be learned
cloak of shadows (just needs 110 apt) - cannot learn from tome

Did you actually break the 8192 byte barrier?  My kid did this.  I had to fix his character file.  He can send me the file and I'll look at it.

No.  Some characters have to fight for their potions.  Others dont.  The necro is one of them.  The bone symbol ring is an ingredient.  Charm + scroll + ring = mods added to charm.

They're coded but not added to either TCEX or D2Vendors.  Sorry.  I will fix that for this update.    Now I understand why people are asking about the Spinecastle symbol.  It drops but the potions don't, but without the potions, the symbol is useless.  Sigh.

The necro has two different selections - 6 that cost (hp%) and 4 that are free.
The six that cost are displayed in your screenshot above.  You can use them as many times as you want provided you don't hp% penalty under 90%.  They don't require the Symbol.  Would you like me to change that for consistency's sake?

The four I copied and pasted from the release notes are four potions (that I forgot to add to the game's tcex or vendors) - you get one per difficulty and are free beyond that.  You require the symbol to use.

Ok now everything clear, thank you. About Symbol - don't see any differences, its boss not so hard for avoiding him and i planning to use only +capacity scroll once for keeping two spectres/death knights most the time.

Imho only two scrolls are worth something - capasity and teleport, magic tree seem too weak/unplayable and poison is limited by poison nova and grip that makes no sence to play it without summoner skills. Replacement hp to mana senseless for me and extra 3 sec for death knights does not worth such cost. I think teleport may cost way lesser(about 20%hp) and increasing capasity 10% for its usefulness.

One of my stream community members did complain about bug he is facing. He is playing a paladin and every time he's crafting a skill tome, the result is one and the same skill (forgot which one...) So, it doesnt really matter which skill he is trying to craft, result is always one and the same skill. He refused to provide any detailed info, so yea... I have promised to ask about it, and I keep my word.... Any ideas what is causing this?

Trying to create any paladin skill tome always creates Blood Lust - I believe you said you already fixed it.

'Blank Paladin Skill Tome' + 'Black Quill' + 'Skill Tome of Holy Bolt' (Level 1) = 'Skill Tome of Blood Lust' (Level 19).
I have 809 APT.

Edit: Replacing 'Skill Tome of Holy Bolt' (Level 1) in the above recipe with any other skill tome I have tested so far also yields Tome of Blood Lust level 19.

my answer is my own assumption:
It is not a ''character state'' but an ''enemy state'', would be my explanation. I'm pretty sure, in multiplayer the affected player sees the changes in his LCS.

Conviction reduces the resistance directly from the monsters. That why you can break immunes with conviction but not with -enemy resistance.

I logged two chars in same game via TCP/IP game. When i go in to pvp mode with barb he gets his resists removed by -5 from paladins conviction aura. So it seems the skills works as intended.

More on topic. Paladin has Protection from lighthing on both left and right mouse keys. On left side - it does nothing :)

This is good.  Your conviction is a state that is applied to enemies, not to you, so any stats that your conviction gives wont show up on the CS as those stats aren't affecting you.  However, if you come across a monster with conviction, your CS will react accordingly.

The only way I can make stats appear on the CS like your conviction is via a "dummystat" version of the real thing.

I found the level 60 amazon spear in Act 2 normal from a chest in Arcane Sanctuary.


My rare weapon is not procing the 5% chance to cast poison nova

Fixed both issues now.

Also hope for removing immunities from act bosses - started fire sorc couple day ago and already fearing meeting with Diablo/unique which drops sorc pots etc.

If you removing bookcases, can you add tome of identify to act 1 merc ? Just for convenience. It is sold in act 2 but not in act 1.

Perplexing chests are the golden ones ?  Act 5 area Shrine of honor has 3 golden chests - ancient one with 3 tomes, odd which drops items and eerie. Act 5 halls of roting has golden chests (at least in 1/4 of the map)- called peculiar, preplexing(drops tomes too), odd, eerie and strange.

I have ran Belial in the Spellbound castle a few times now and I am not getting and druid custom potions to drop.  I am getting skill books and stat potions.  Am I having bad luck, or are they not coded to drop from him like it says in the patch notes?

Excellent.  Please note that I place little goodies all over the place.  I've noticed that a lot of people like to just rush through games but for those who like to explore, you should be rewarded.  Score for you.  Keep the location to yourself please or PM if you have a concern.

Thank you for posting it.  You might want to put that item on a mule because once I change the itemtype, it might end poorly for that character.
I have set the item's max socket to 0.  I didnt change the itemtype so it should be ok but mule just in case.

You are correct.  There seems to be a max value that I can push via a potion.  It's more than 2^24 but less than 2^25.  Not sure why.  The experience stat is 32 bits.  The highest two items have been removed from the game.

Also hope for removing immunities from act bosses - started fire sorc couple day ago and already fearing meeting with Diablo/unique which drops sorc pots etc.

No Act bosses are double or triple immune anywhere in the game regardless of difficulty.
Andy is poison immune.
Durry - no change
Mephys - Lightning immune
Diablo - fire immune
Baal - no immunity but looking at a way to give him a random immunity that changes throughout the fight.

Level 2 tome is not working either.

@ Dragon Spectre

You need a skill to ''detonate'' the clones dealing random effects.
On a low percentage among these effects might be one desirable & strong effect and many weaker less useful effects.
So sometimes it might be a good idea to try your luck even with detonating only 1 clone vs. waiting to summon more and getting the desired effect because of high chances from the number of ''detonations''.

I was unable to complete Quest 2 in Act 5 Normal.

The Quest Screen tells me, 10 barbarians are still missing.

Had the same "wtf"-moment...

You have to defeat meet Andy, Duriel and Mephisto to save them all.

And be sure to do so in one Session. ;) (just a wild guess since it's the behavior of vanilla)

You dont have to defeat the uber Andy, Duriel, or Mephisto but you have to save all 15 barbs in one game.  Not easy.  The barbs can die and you will have to redo it.  It's all or nothing.  Be quick!

Cannot temper adamantium paladin class flail. I got it imbued from charsi - a rare.
Using the recipes from aftermathcentral.com - rare item + small hp pot + moonstone amethyst + temper rune = does not work.

Using paladin class chest rare armour + small hp pot + moonstone amethyst + temper rune = also did not work.

Using all class rare 1h axe + small hp pot + moonstone amethyst = works fine.

Adamantium weapons can be tempered now.  However there is a potential glitch.

I had to edit itemtypes and move some linkages around for two handed weapons to get things to work properly. 

Please temporarily move your weapon to a mule or drop it before updating.

I have 4x widowmaker ceremonial pike (lvl 60 req). They drop a lot for me on normal. For ethreal you can go with socket + indestructable rune.

Sister Martha is bugged for me too in NM. Same goes for Shaanti npc.

I can't click on "an evil force" to hire a mercenary.


If my merc is dead and I try to resurrect him from Qual-Keck my game crashes.

Even with the change to vita for druid spirit life it is dying a bunch in Normal.  It has about 3700 life, skill is level 20 with level 14 natures mastery and I have 120 vita.  Life needs to be at least doubled or resistances increased significantly.


Also, every single druid helm I have found with any +skills has had +elemental.  I am talking like 20 elemental helms to zero other skill helms.  Can you look at that for me?  Seems like I should have found one with shapeshifting.

What about adding like 50% static avoid to druid spirits + some more for hard skill points? Druid is not summonner and spirits coming from other world and not affect enemies directly so it should be ok.

In Halls of the Beast one of the dragons (north area of the map) died while walking across a fire pit so no items dropped.  I will have to do it again.  Any chance you can fix the map so it can't walk into areas where items can't drop onto the ground?

When I go to Quel-Kehk, I see the normal options.  Talk, Resurrect, Hire.  The Quest is done.  When the quest is not done, I see "evil force".... grumble.

Ya I noticed that.  I will make the TP work both ways.

Multi tempering is only available for the original lod class specifics.  Check out the tempering pages at aftermathcentral.com

Yes.  They should be able to.  I did copy and paste things so maybe I missed some.

Ok.  What would you like as an automagic?  Currently its:
Druid caster helms gain skills, mastery, and cast rate
Druid melee helms gain hp%, heal on melee hit, and regen

IML4,5,6 -- exceptional rares only
IML7+ -- elite rares only.

Ok, i was probably trying to temper elite rare boots at IML6.

About socketing. Which items can get sockets and how many max ? I tried boots with 4 x 4sockets + 4 ores = no result. So i am guessing no sockets on boots/glovevs ? How about helmets, belts, jewelry, ect ?

The Lucky Boots unique plan says to use Superior Plated Boots, There is no Plated Boots on the wiki so i did the recipe with Light Plated Boots and it gave me rare boots instead.

Lesser Horadric Cube + Alchemy Flask + Gold Glyph = 75 bronze glyphs automatically added to your stocker count.   The recipe will fail if you have more than 4000 stored bronze glyphs. 

Again, you dont need to extract glyphs to reroll.  Just place your rare in the cube the the lesser cube and transmute to reroll (bronze counter will fall by 3 per reroll)

On the 4/4 orbs it only says item lvl -1. No more info about other requirements. I reached 95 and it worked, but until then it was unclear.

I saw 4 unique grand cycles in aftermathcentral. Who drops them ? Random mobs all over, act bosses or some specific locations ?

This armor - bugs out when you pick it up with mouse from inventory - mouse cursor and item disapears and you cannot put it down only to throw away on ground. Somehow i managed to put in stash in random spot. When in stash it has no visual just 3x2 darker space.

I'm having some trouble with the Necro scrolls sold by lady lazarus.  I cubed the scroll/symbol ring/class charm to no avail and tried without the symbol ring as well.  ty!

I did have an active jewel in an equipment piece.  Maybe picking up another jewel and having it in my inventory caused this?

Were both jewels socketed in a gear piece?
Were both jewels from Norm or was one from NM?

I picked three random active orbs, one from each difficulty setting and cubed them with a jewel.  No issues here.  Need more info from you.

Both Jewels were from norm.  One jewel was active and socketed in a chest piece, one jewel was in my inventory having just been picked up from the cow king.

Checking out the fire shrine.

Some of my characters are losing 50% (any of them with life under 2000 so far - tested 5 of them)
My main character, the barb, life at 6.3k is not losing anything.  Not sure why.

How many of you keep your life and how many of you lose 50%?
